Sometimes a person changed so much that he cannot even recognize himself anymore. It's under the influence of your friends, or maybe the environment you are in that force you to change into someone else without you realizing it until one fine day u decide to sit down and think about yourself in the past. It's not that being yourself in the past is being your real self, but you will think that why is there such a change of personality and character. So which part of you is actually being yourself? What is your true self? How do you be yourself when you don't even know yourself?
They say be yourself. But there are so many social norms to be accustomed to. That's why we say in Rome do as the Romans do. How you behave when you are with a group of girls is so different from when you are with a bunch of soldiers. You see, as i describe the collective term i have already chosen a different term for the two respective groups of people. There are so many parts of your flaws that you want to cover up and so many of those traits that are considered socially embraced that you will like to display. You want to be popular, or at least feel accepted.
So how is that being yourself? Most people are just mirrors, changing according to whoever they are interacting with. They try to mirror whatever the other person wants to hear and see. In short, we try to be nice.
At the end of the day, will you like yourself when you meet yourself?
ANYWAY,
I'm going Taiwan tonight! Yea i know i'm not supposed to even tell anyone that i'm going overseas because it's a "secret" but as they put it, it's an open secret. They are always full of shit but they like to contradict it by inviting parents to the camp and trying to be "transparent". Seriously, if Discovery Channel can reveal US air force's F-35 super stealth aircraft to the world i don't see what secrets do we have.
Coming back on the 21st of Nov. By then, so many guys will be out or army already and ready to go on to uni... it's that kind of freedom that all NS guys crave and dream about but for now, let's survive Taiwan first.

Ah... going to Taiwan in 1 week time. Seriously, i will miss Singapore for everything and i dread the fact that i need to train there for 2 awnd a 1/2 weeks. The only thing i'm looking forward to now is the 3D2N recreation trip in Taipei! Haha... actually i've been there for 2 times already but it will be different this time round since i'll be travelling with my army friends.
You know i've this small lump on my little finger of my right hand and it costed $107 to visit a specialist and 3K to operate on it! Wth. Being a poor ass, i decided to wait for the NUH appointment which is on Nov 30. In the meanwhile, i shall live with the disgusting lump that can turn painful on random days. Hmmm...
And i'm so glad i passed standard obstacles course! No more weekends burnt for stupid remedial trainings and no more stress because i cannot clear low rope.
Sister came back for a short period of time over the weekend and it's quite fun having her around in the house. It's quite sad we didnt get to really watch movie or shop tgt due to certain time restrictions... it's quite sad to send her off today as well and it will be quite some time before she's back. (at least after i come back from Taiwan)
It's weird to look forward to going some place but at the same time the reluctance to leave the current place you are in. Humans. Or maybe it's just me. haha.
